An Investment You Won't Regret!

As a business coach, I help clinicians build and maintain successful private practices. The benefit of getting higher education in counseling is that you are taught how to be an excellent clinician. However, most programs never teach the basics on how to run a business. If you have a private practice, you have a small business. And as a business owner, there are many skills that are essential to your success. Many private practices fail or never reach their full potential because they are never taught the marketing and business skills that are essential to their success. As a result, their reach and impact on the clients that need them are never felt. I focus on teaching clinicians how to grow their practices into thriving businesses with huge impacts.

MY JOURNEY TO PRIVATE PRACTICE...

I started my private practice for these main reasons; flexibility, freedom, financial wealth and more importantly to show my daughter that she could do whatever she wants in this world! I realized I was a great therapist very early in my career. Not to sound cocky or toot my own horn, but I knew right away what my purpose was. I started graduate school as a young and new mom, and while I had a lot of support, I also knew I had to figure it out to make it so that I’m not exhausting my supports. So I worked hard to learn everything I could.

As you all know, my career started in NYC, where the atmosphere bleeds competition. When I moved to FL, I was unsure of who I was as a therapist. I had nothing established, but I learned shortly that the therapists in FL did not have the same skill set that I possessed. This was also solidified by old clients from NYC finding me on LinkedIn and other social media platforms asking me to continue seeing them.

When the pandemic hit, I decided to invest and take the steps to start my journey in the world of private practice and entrepreneurship. My boyfriend asked what did I want for Valentine’s Day and I told him I wanted him to invest in my business and he did. He gifted me a LLC, an insurance policy, a new laptop and a check. I built a website with my best friend, took some headshots with my boyfriend’s iPhone, and paid for ads on therapy directory websites.

I got my first client in May 2020 and from there I got two more. I worked with those three for about three months and then had an influx of clients come in at once. And it has yet to stop.

This journey has allowed me to build the schedule I want, allowed me more time with my family and allowed me more time with myself. Out of all this, the one thing that I am proud about is that my daughter brags to everyone that her mother is a mental health therapist and that she is famous because she’s on my website! She talks about opening up her own makeup studio and doing the makeup for therapist for their websites and it melts my heart.
